Christmas and New Year in Russia

8 days/7 nights guided tour
from £1,499

Reveal the romance of the Russian winter and experience a very special celebration of your favourite holidays! Russia Revealed is proud to offer this fully guided tour to Russia at Christmas and New Year. This exceptional tour allows you to take a closer look at the traditions of Russia and experience typical Russian cuisine and entertainment. The Russians celebrate Christmas on the 7th of January, according to the old Julian calendar. In everyday life, however, the Russians use the Georgian calendar, and the beginning of the New Year is celebrated on the same day as in the rest of the world. So why not immerse yourself in the real Russian white winter right after the English Christmas? Imagine beautiful ice caps on church domes, a breathtaking troika ride through the snow, enjoying famous Russian delicacies at a gala dinner, or simply a relaxed walking tour to the Kremlin in Moscow and St. Petersburg’s Peter and Paul Fortress. All that and much more is possible on our extremely popular Christmas and New Year in Russia tour!
Your first three nights are spent in Russia’s dazzling capital, where you will be taken on daily excursions by our knowledgeable English-speaking guide. On the evening of your fourth day, you’ll board the overnight train to St. Petersburg, where you’ll spend the following three nights. Again, there is a full programme of guided sightseeing and seasonal activities. See the itinerary for details.

Day 1. Arrival at Moscow International Airport. You will be met at the airport by a Russia Revealed representative who will escort you to your hotel, where you’ll enjoy a welcome shot of vodka or glass of champagne.

Day 2. Discover some of Moscow’s finest treasures on a guided half-day city tour. The afternoon is free to explore this beautiful snow-dusted city.

Day 3. In the morning, you’ll be taken to the Kremlin and one of its famous cathedrals. (Christmas only: on Christmas day, you will be treated to a fabulous celebration lunch with vodka, pancakes and caviar). In the evening, you may attend a performance in one of Moscow’s theatres as one of the options.

Day 4. On your final day in Moscow, take a breathtaking troika ride through snow-covered fields in Peter the Great’s favourite estate at Kolomenskoye. Later on, board the popular overnight train to St. Petersburg.

Day 5. St. Petersburg. After an early morning arrival in the imperial city, you will be met at the station and taken to the hotel. Your arrival is followed by a half-day orientation tour. In the afternoon, you are free to explore this historic city by yourself. (New Year tour only: celebrate New Year in style with a gala dinner, complete with music, champagne and, of course, world famous Russian vodka).

Day 6. A guided morning tour of the Hermitage is at your disposal, where three million works of art are just waiting to be discovered. Afternoon is free to spend as you wish.

Day 7. A tour to the Peter and Paul Fortress in the morning will be followed by the afternoon at leisure.

Day 8. Departure from St. Petersburg. The morning is yours to enjoy, perhaps to take a final stroll along the frozen canals. In the afternoon, your guide will take you to the airport for your return flight to the UK.

If wish to include an opera or ballet performance in Moscow or St Petersburg, Russia Revealed will be happy to arrange it for you.
